Hello,

My name is Danielle and this is my blog. I am an oil painter, photographer, avid book worm, and sometime domineering chef (in my own kitchen). I adore the process of making things by hand and revel in the fruits of my labor. I have an unhealthy obsession with blue glass. Travel is one of the things I live for. I am blessed to have spent memorable time overseas and to have studied in Italy. Twice! Naturally I am obsessed with gelato and, yes, had a whopper of a crush on Francesco Totti (forza Roma!). I live with my boyfriend fiancé and sometime sous chef, Jacob. We met in Los Angeles while attending Occidental College. He grew up on San Juan Island, I grew up about an hour ferry ride away on Whidbey Island. Yeah, it was meant to be. Cue chirping birds and rainbows. We have a cat named Sita. She is 6 lbs of loving, black furred fury and fetches like a dog.

Dizzy swallows is a place for me to share the things dear to my heart and to explore the complex singularity of places, objects, moments and people. Writing here helps me to recognize and remember the simple pleasures.
