Hello my dears! Today I’d like to share with you my latest painting…well, paintings. This is a diptych I recently finished for submission to the same show as Shadows. Continuing with the theme of “couplings”, these two pieces are meant to leave the viewer free to run away with their own little imaginings of what’s in the middle. In my mind, they are also meant to convey the privacy of being in a couple. No one can possibly be privy to the everyday intricacies of an intimate relationship besides the two people in it.
The colors were inspired by one of my favorite contemporary portrait artists, Casey Baugh, hence the title Casey’s Gold. Also, as I’m a fan of slightly ambiguous titles, the name “Casey” seemed appropriately unisex to get people thinking…
As ever, I continue to search for the best way to document my work. If anyone out there has a (relatively) cheap and easy solution for faithful reproduction let me know and I shall be eternally grateful.
Oil on canvas, 24″x24″ and 24″x24″
