Music in the Monsoon

Music in the Monsoon

July 1st, 2010 1 Comment

July has brought a monsoon to Texas. Dark storm clouds are hunkered down over the oaks and mesquite like they want to make friends. For the past three days the hot rain has poured down in what can only be described as sheets. In that time, the pluviometer (the juicier name for “rain gauge”) has recorded nearly two inches. The road is a river and the behemoth trucks are boats. The yard is a pond. I half expect the house to shuck its foundations and float away. Or that we will wake up to find we have become an island in a sparkling lake painted by Hayao Miyazaki.

To welcome in July and to get us through the storm, I wanted to share my first mixed tape from 8tracks with you. Enjoy it in your own little summer boat.
