Little Bits for a Monday

February 21st, 2011

Happy happy day! Lykke Li released another song off her new album, Wounded Rhymes, on Friday! Ms. Li describes the track, “Lust Out Of Love”, as one of her personal favorites and I am inclined to agree. What do you think?

I’m a huge sucker for stunning jewelery, especially if it involves pointy, toothy, or feathered goodness. This crowd-stopping quill necklace from Lulu Frost is a winner in my book. Love the earrings too!

Classy fashionistas know that a little mystery goes a long way. This slinky, thigh exposing, slit skirt from Bec & Bridge is a sultry whisper among the siren scream of mini-skirts.

I am in love with Bagatelles&co’s retro inspired clutches and purses. Each one is handmade from vintage silk, liberty fabric, or brocade remnants, for guaranteed uniqueness. If you want to go a step further, they can even be personalized with names … Continue reading

Sneak Peek: BHLDN

February 11th, 2011

Hello lovies! Like many out there of the female persuasion, I am guilty of a crippling addiction to all things Anthropologie. Imagine my chagrin yesterday, when the blogosphere came alive with the news of Anthropologie’s new wedding line, BHLDN (or Beholden).

As is only appropriate, the line will be “unveiled” (oh yes) on February 14th. The lucky ladies over at Oh Joy, Brooklyn Bride, Green Wedding Shoes and A Cup of Jo were given a sneak peek into the line yesterday! Mosey on over to their lovely blogs for more drool worthy images.

The line is everything we’ve come to expect from Anthro: sumptuous details, feminine charm, character, and rich, hand-crafted texture.

Brides-to-be around the country: commence feeding frenzy.

Scrum-ptious

January 20th, 2011

Ah puns…how we love you. I’m feeling particularly resentful that this morning had the impudence to dawn as Thursday when the length of my week would make Friday far more appropriate. Is there a cup of coffee large enough to forgive this offense? I think not, though Starbucks has recently offered the public their new swimming pool sized cups. But fear not my dears (and most especially you ladies), I have just the thing squirreled away.

Behold: Moschino has sprinkled Italian rugby players into its usual model mix for the Autumn 2011 runway presentation.

This created the lovely game of “spot the rugby player”. Judging by the giraffe-like nature of most model’s necks (male and female), I’d say the chin-to-neck ratio is a dead giveaway. Enjoy chickies and tell me if you think I’ve got the rugby players right.

Fashion Imitates Art

January 7th, 2011

It is rare that I discover something I would describe as visually arresting. But such is this brilliant color comparison series by Miss Moss, in which she constructs beautiful mash-ups of street style photographs and vintage art prints. I simply must share:

For the Ladies

November 10th, 2010

To all my dear readers of the male persuasion: sorry guys, today’s post is for the ladies. Promise I’ll sneak in a few extra explosions and Star Wars references for you soon.

I recently grew out my hair after keeping it chin-length for a few years. For now I am safely in the honeymoon stage with my longer locks, pinning, braiding and up-doing with an inordinate amount of excitement. However, I am wary of the ease with which I have fallen into coiffure ruts in the past (messy bun everyday anyone?) and so I’m constantly on the lookout for inspiration.

So it comes as no surprise that upon discovering this gorgeous side chignon I knew I had to share it for the health of our collective hairy repertoire. The instructions are incredibly simple and can be found here.

Add a bit of blood red lippy and even in a … Continue reading
