Hello my lovelies! Today I am thrilled to share with you a band that has been on repeat in our home for the last month. Wouldn’t you know, it is another Swede. Karin Dreijer Andersson goes by the stage name Fever Ray, but you may also recognize her voice from the electronic music duo, The Knife, which consists of Karin and her brother Olof. Her debut, self-titled album is one of those rare finds which I am happy to listen to beginning to end. Over and over. Everyday. Below, you can hear my favorite track, “When I Grow Up.”
Speaking of the Swedes, have you heard of Hövding, the invisible bike helmet? Try and spot it in the photo below, and if that interests you, be sure to watch their 3 minute documentary video here.
What happens to childhood in these technology-crazed days? It seems more and more children are growing up in front of a series of progressively diminutive screens. To the point where someone has made a marketing campaign to get kids back to nature. Meet Project Wild Thing:
“In an attempt to compete with the brands, which take up a third of his daughter’s life, David Bond appoints himself Marketing Director for Nature. Like any self-respecting salesman, he sets about developing a campaign and a logo. With the help of a number of bemused professionals, he is soon selling Nature to British families. His humorous journey unearths some painful truths about modern family life. His product is free, plentiful and has proven benefits – but is Nature past its sell-by date?”
My outside time these days is usually spent pounding the pavement. Running in the Northwest fall and winter can be a chilly, damp business, difficult to motivate for. I’ve been eyeing these CW-X Insulator running tights for just that reason. Warmth and compression you say? Sold.
And yes, as the weather turns colder and colder, my thoughts have begun to turn to the holidays. What better way to get in the holiday spirit than with classic red nails? I’m drooling over Essie’s A-List.
But this week we will escape the cold! Tomorrow we fly out to Hawaii for a dear friend’s wedding! Can’t wait. I shall certainly share picture and stories upon our return. Until then, have a wonderful week my dears! xox
