Honeymoon: Wanaka, Queenstown, Fiordlands

March 31st, 2014

Happy Monday lovelies! And on to the second installment of our honeymoon adventures! This section of photos proved difficult to edit down, and while I’ve hacked away whole sections with all the finesse of a chainsaw, I hope you will forgive if not enjoy the plethora of lakes/clouds/crags.

From cloudy Christchurch, we struck out across the South Island to Wanaka, stopping for a picnic beside Lake Pukaki’s glacial blue waters.

At this point I should introduce our traveling companion: our faithful Toyota (nicknamed Rana since it liked to eat bugs) which performed masterfully over our month plus New Zealand road-trip.

Beautiful views across the lake towards Aoraki (Mt. Cook).

Paradise!

The water was far too cold for swimming, but Jacob took a moment to skip stones across its icy surface.

After lunch we continued on towards Wanaka, passing interesting geology which I felt compelled to document if even through the … Continue reading

Honeymoon: Sydney to Christchurch

March 28th, 2014

Hello darlings! Here it is, the first installment of our epic, six week journey. This post features our arrival down-under in Sydney, a brief visit to Canberra, and finally Christchurch, our first flavor of New Zealand.

Side note: We touched down (small joke) in Sydney a mere two hours before one of the most satisfying Super Bowls of all time, which we were able to catch in a friendly, though embarrassingly quiet, local bar. Couldn’t be prouder to be a Seahawks fan. And just saying, I totally called the whole thing from the preseason. So there. Ahem.

We were hosted by our dear friend and former college housemate, Tyler. The Sydney household could not have been kinder, cooking us dinner and making us feel quite at home.

As a city, I quite enjoyed Sydney, particularly Glebe, the district in which we stayed. Exceptional thai food. Beautiful running tracks. Surprisingly, however, … Continue reading

Hello Home

March 24th, 2014 2 Comments

Hello my dearest strangers!! I am so thrilled to say that I am home, slightly less thrilled that I was unable to blog whilst away. Reintegration is in process and, after 6 weeks, I can tell you the task is a bit daunting…particularly when my mind is still somewhat lost in the world of the above photo. However, I am pressing forward and should have a first post for you shortly, complete with (seemingly endless) photos. Much love to you all and thank you for sticking with me through the long silences!… Continue reading

Adventuring

January 29th, 2014

It hasn’t sunk in quite it, but we are leaving for Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji on Friday (not all at once, clearly, but in that order)! I will be doing my best to find time and internets for blogging while we are gone, so look for a least a few posts! Wishing you all the best my dears and happy adventuring whatever it may be.… Continue reading

Little Bits for a Monday

January 20th, 2014

First off, I apologize to any of you who are sports fans, but I just have to say: GO HAWKS!!! So proud of my team for making it to the Super Bowl! Jacob and I haven’t missed a game all year, including preseason, and knew from the first it was our year. Of course, last night’s game was a real nail-biter that I’m fairly sure took about 2 years off my life. This from the the NY Times: “…a frenetic final 15 minutes of a frenetic second half of a frenetic game featuring the two best teams in the conference, maybe the league — teams that care for each other not at all…”

And you have to love all the love between this team and we 12s.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t feature a Seattle artist now and while I love you Macklemore, this calls … Continue reading
