Happy Birthday Bob Marley

February 6th, 2013

Wishing a happy birthday to one of the most beautiful souls that ever lived. He would have been 68 today. Almost makes me want to watch Marley again (for the third time), if for nothing else then the rare tracks and the Lee “Scratch” Perry scenes.

A beautiful quote from Bob, on love:

“You may not be her first, her last, or her only. She loved before she may love again. But if she loves you now, what else matters? She’s not perfect – you aren’t either, and the two of you may never be perfect together but if she can make you laugh, cause you to think twice, and admit to being human and making mistakes, hold onto her and give her the most you can. She may not be thinking about you every second of the day, but she will give you a part of her that she … Continue reading

Little Bits for a Monday

January 14th, 2013

Today’s music comes to you from Cold Specks, a London based group fronted by the talented Canadian singer, Al Spx (pseudonym). This song is titled, “Holland”, and is accompanied by one visually engrossing video.

This has me spending more time than usual huddled with my knitting. If only yarn wasn’t so expensive. Le sigh. However, single skeins and yarn scraps do have their uses I’m finding…

Are any of you familiar with the work of Gemma Correll? … Continue reading

El Perro Del Mar

January 9th, 2013

Yesterday on our way to see The Book of Mormon (ammaaazing and highly recommended), a song came on the radio (KEXP naturally) that had me immediately increasing the volume. It sounded so much like my beloved Lykke Li, but had a very different flavor. When the DJ announced that it was in fact fellow Swede, El Perro Del Mar, I made a mental note to look up this paragon. Imagine my glee, when today I discovered that those two have in fact collaborated on several songs! I thought I’d share one such with you today. This video is from La Blogotheque‘s series “A Take Away Show”, and features Lyyke and Sarah (El Perro Del Mar) performing guerrilla style in San Francisco. The song is called “Somebody’s Baby”.

Below the video you can listen to El Perro Del Mar’s new album, Pale Fire. Hope you enjoy!
