Dizzy Swallows

Back to earth. After the most amazing experience of my life. It is still difficult to find the words to describe the utter beauty of our wedding, the unbridled out-pouring of love from our community, the joyous, united effort to pull off one amazing weekend. I can’t wait to share everything with you, once I get my legs back under me.

All love.

These past weeks have been filled to bursting. May is nearly done and I’ve been so focused, I was hardly aware of it’s passage. I thought I’d share a few of the sights and sounds that have so occupied my world of late.

Good music. Always. Here’s a lovely ditty from Taken By Trees: “Dreams.” Taken By Trees is the solo project of former Concretes singer, Victoria Bergsman. Incidentally, Victoria is yet another Swede.

We’ve built and painted a dozen chalkboard signs for the wedding (can’t wait for you to see them in action!), and thought we’d use some of the leftovers to paint the inside of one of our cupboards. I’m thinking to fill it with handy measurement conversions and such.

Little Bits for a Monday

Happy Monday my darlings. Spring is just around the corner! Thank heavens. Today I’d like to share with you a song that’s been roaming round my head since happening upon it a few weeks ago (shout out to Tommy!). Enjoy while you peruse the rest of the post!

How was everyone’s weekend? Ours was full, as was the week previous. Though I was down with my first cold of the year, we did manage to get some key measurements at our wedding venue, lock in the catering, and have a nice walk about the land.

We even managed to plant the start of our garden! So far we have strawberries and peas in the ground, and butternut squash, cilantro, mint, and broccoli in the seedling tray. Much more to come!

My wellies have been earning their keep being out in the garden and … Continue reading

Wedding Wreath

Remember the apple tree pruning? Well waste not, want not as they say. Yesterday I constructed the base for a huge floral wreath, lashing and weaving together the water sprouts. I had such fun maneuvering and nesting the shoots between and around each other, covering the initial wired round. There’s something undeniably pleasing about the lithe lengths running side by side, over and under, fuzzed and ruddy on the tip, slick and green at the base.

The wreath is about 3 1/2 feet in diameter and I intend it to hang over us, festooned with flowers and ferns, as we exchange vows.

I’m using the beautiful floral wreath from this 100 Layer Cake styled shoot as inspiration.

What do we think?… Continue reading
